Football is a sport that builds LIFE SKILLS, teamwork; tears of agony, pain and joy; injuries; commitment; dedication & perseverance. We have no doubt students will learn about the great game of football and about their own abilities through the HAYAA Football program. Football allows each athlete to push themselves and to be pushed, to set a goal and to work hard to achieve it, to experience victory and defeat and lastly to enjoy the comradire that comes with being a part of a team.
HAYAA's Youth Football organization participates in the Livingston County Area Junior Football League which consists of teams from Hartland, Howell, Brighton, Byron, Fowlerville, Hamburg, Lakeland, Milford, South Lyon, Webberville and Whitmore Lake.
We offer 4 levels of Tackle Football. Instructional--1 Team--2nd grade; Freshman--4 Teams--3rd/4th graders; JV--4 Teams--5th/6th graders; Varsity--4 Teams--7th/8th graders.
Practices are typically 5 days a week for Freshman-JV-Varsity teams beginning in late July or early August until the first week of school, then practices are 3-days per week. Instructional teams practice less frequent.
There is typically a conditioning camp offered in July. This camp is sponsored by the Hartland High School Football program. It is an excellent opportunity for young athletes to meet high school players, allows the high school players to share their skills and give back to the community and is an outstanding way to support your Hartland Eagle High School Football program.
Games are played on Saturdays usually starting Labor Day weekend through October.
Spirit Wear is available for purchase at every Home game. We have great HAYAA Football apparel, decals, signs, stadium chairs, blankets and even water bottles, just to name a few of our best sellers. HAYAA Spirit wear makes great gifts so get yours early...many items sell out fast!
The HAYAA Football organization is run by Board Members from our community/program that are elected through nominations and a vote which is conducted in October of each football season. Board meetings are held the first Monday of each Month at the Hartland Education Center and are open to the public.
Each team has a Head Coach, several assistant coaches and a Team Coordinator (s). Each Head Coach chooses the coaching staff and team coordinator(s). If you are interested in serving in any capacity please contact our 2008 HAYAA Secretary Jennifer Pankowski at jlpankowski@yahoo.com.
Team Coordinators keep the team connected with each other and HAYAA through weekly newsletters, emails, announcements and possibly team web sites via the head coach to the team. This position has been formally known as the “Team Mom” position and is vital (and FUN!) and you don't have to be a "MOM" to apply. Sometimes two people team up to make this a less hectic position. On the job training is provided!
Volunteers run the entire HAYAA Football organization. The success of the HAYAA Football Program is solely based on your continuous support and volunteer efforts during every practice, game and season. Team Coordinators will assign each family, volunteer time, which may include working in the concession stand, gates or the merchandise stand. Along with these responsibilities we also need an Announcer, 2 Spotters and 3 sideline "Chain Gang" volunteers at each HOME game. This is above and beyond typical volunteer hours. Your Hours will be based on how many Home games your team has. Coaches will be required to solicit team help when playing at "The Little Big House" to OPEN the field (if they are the first game of the day) or CLOSE the Field (last game of the day) which requires volunteers to arrive 1 1/2 hours before game time or stay longer to clean up. We look forward to your support in "The Little Big House" this fall to support the future players of the high school football program. Don't forget to do your part during the Pre-Season! Field prep & stripping, Helmet sticker days, etc…watch the HAYAA web site for days and times!
Every family is required to fulfill the volunteer responsibilities assigned to them through their Team Coordinator, its part of being on any HAYAA football team and is not optional.
If you have multiple athletes you will be required to fulfill your volunteer time on each team. The same is true if you have a football player and a Cheerleader. We ask that you make your team Coordinator aware you have multiple athletes and we have no doubt they will do their best to accommodate your requests. PLEASE BE AWARE, although Football and Cheer/Pom support each other in team spirit, they are separate entities and therefore have separate requirements, so please review the HAYAA Cheer/Pom pages for their volunteer policies.
If you know a High School age student you can have them take your place! This is the perfect opportunity for them to earn those valuable community service hours required to graduate. Contact your team Coordinator for more options on how these students can make a difference for your team and for HAYAA.
We hope you'll look forward to this volunteer opportunity as a chance to get to know our Football Families better, give back to the community and set a wonderful example for your children.
Thank you for being a part of the Hartland Eagles Football.
